Day 01.Arrival in San Jose, Costa Rica

Meet & greet at the airport by your private guide and departure to the Central Pacific Coast, where the Carara National Park is located. Check-in and overnight at Villa Lapas Hotel

Day 02.Carara National Park Tour – Tarcoles River Boat Tour

(B) Early in the morning guided visit to the Carara National Park, located in a transition zone between the tropical dry forest and the humid Pacific rainforest. Due to the different habitats is home to approximately 48% of Costa Rica’s avifauna. If lucky, we will be able to spot the Scarlet Macaw, Collared Aracari and more.

In the afternoon we will enjoy the Tarcoles River Boat Tour. Upon arrival board an open roofed boat to explore the Tarcoles River, which sits at the Guacalillo Estuary. The mangrove forest is home to many birds including the cuckoo, hummingbirds, Panama flycatcher, herons and egrets. This amazing river also supports a wide variety of water birds such as ospreys, cormorants, pelicans and thrillingly, one of the largest colonies of crocodiles in Central America. After the tour transfer back to your hotel. Overnight at Villa Lapas Hotel

Day 03.Carara National Park – Hacienda Solimar

(B,L,D) This morning we will continue to Hacienda Solimar, located in the boundaries of Palo Verde National Park in the Guanacaste Province, where we will have our first encounter with the Tropical Dry Forest. In the afternoon we will explore the area and its rich biodiversity. Check-in and overnight at Hacienda Solimar

Day 04.Hacienda Solimar

(B,L,D) Full day birding at Hacienda Solimar grounds, one of the best areas in the country to spot the Jabiru. Overnight at Hacienda Solimar

Day 05.Hacienda Solimar – Arenal Observatory

(B) After breakfast depart with your driver-guide to the Arenal Volcano area. Check-in and overnight at Arenal Observatory Lodge

Day 06.Arenal Observatory Preserve

(B) Full day to explore the Arenal Observatory Preserve. The 11-kilometer (7-mile) network of well-marked and maintained trails that are ideal for hiking and birdwatching. These trails give you access to rivers and waterfalls and since they are inside a 870-acre private property, you won’t run into crowds when out exploring. From this area you will have excellent views of the Arenal Volcano! Overnight at Arenal Observatory Lodge

Day 07.Arenal Volcano – Sarapiqui

(B) Morning in Arenal to explore the area area around the Arenal Lake. After lunch depart to the Sarapiqui area, located in the Northeastern lowlands and neighboring the Braulio Carrillo National Park. Afternoon to explore with your guide the Selva Verde Rainforest Reserve. The afternoon is an active time for the birds, so you can count on sighting several of the stunning tropical species that inhabit the preserve. Check-in and overnight at Selva Verde Lodge

Day 08.La Selva OTS Tour – Sarapiqui River Boat Tour

(B,L) Morning visit to La Selva Biological Station is one of the most important sites for Tropical Ecosystem Research in the world. It is comprised of 3,988 acres of old growth tropical wet forest and part of a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Species diversity is spectacular, including more than 1,850 species of vascular plant flora, 350 species of trees, more than half of the 886 species of birds in Costa Rica among other species. Afternoon guided boat tour in the Sarapiqui River. During the tour you will enjoy the exuberant flora and fauna that offers the majestic and historic Sarapiquí River. Overnight at Selva Verde Lodge

Day 09.Sarapiqui – San Jose

(B) After breakfast you will depart with your guide to the Braulio Carrillo National Park for a guided walk in the trails of the Quebrada Gonzalez Sector. Following this tour you will continue to San Jose and have a free evening. Overnight at Hyatt Pinares Hotel

Day 10.Tapanti National Park – San Gerardo de Dota

(B) Early morning you will be picked up for the transfer to the San Gerardo de Dota area, visiting on the way the Tapanti National Park. This park is part of the Pacific La Amistad Conservation Area and is located on the east edge of the Talamanca Range. The park's 400 bird species include sparrow hawks, resplendent quetzals, emerald toucanets, and violaceous trogons. Following this visit continue to the San Gerardo de Dota. Overnight at Savegre Lodge

Day 11.San Gerardo de Dota

(B) Full day in San Gerardo de Dota to explore the area with your private guide. San Gerardo or Savegre is a small valley nestled in the Talamanca Mountain Range, features a cloud forests and is considered a Mecca for bird watchers counting about 170 species of birds including the Magnificent Quetzal. Overnight at Savegre Lodge

Day 12.San Gerardo de Dota – San Jose International Airport

(B) According to the departure time of your flight, private transfer to the Liberia International Airport. End of our services!
